THE NEW, OLD, POST, POST-MODERN ECONOMY.
ARTWORK IS EXPENSIVE!!!!
I know, I can't afford it either! And you're right, your kid probably could paint that. In all fairness though, does your kid have to buy supplies and build stretchers; pay studio rent, liability & health insurance; rent uhauls and storage units; paint in insulated coveralls all winter and in skivvies all summer; all the while juggling multiple part-time jobs? If so, you win 10 giant paintings. S & H charges may apply.
Ponzi scheme got you down? Not cut out for the service sector and information age economy? See something you like, but a 12' painting is simply not in your budget? Here are some options for ya:
DEAL OR NO DEAL
* If you are in a public space, rent the work for a year. Hell, if you're in a really public space, I might just loan it to you in exchange for some minimal hosting duties.
* I'm also very interested in installing work in locations that might somehow relate to the subjects that I am exploring. So make a love connection and email me your story.
* Rent to own. Low interest rates may apply.
* Installment Plan. Pay an agreed upon amount each month. Bonus points if it equals or exceeds my monthly student loan payment.
TRADE or BARTER
Some goods or services I would trade or barter for include, but are most definitely not limited to:
* A kick-ass website (no disrespect to the folks here at OPP)
* Audio & video equipment (as well as tutorials)
* Apple flat screen monitor and other graphic design/computer accoutrements
* Small pick up truck, standard. Cody would like a station schwagon.
* Veterinary care for Cody & Pacino.
* Chiropractic, acupuncture, and dental care for the human. Cody would probably like acupuncture for his arthritis. His breath is not so great either.
* Table saw, drill press and other tools
* CSA share and/or fresh veggies from your garden
* Humanely raised, non-chemical meat
* Custom-framed road, touring, and/or cyclocross bikes. Also looking for a tandem for my dad. And a shed to keep them all in.
* Yoga instruction & massage
* Mechanic work for the '94 Nissan
* A good, lightweight, 2-person tent
* Accounting & tax guidance
* Fancy haircuts. I have to offset all this hippie somehow.
* Touring kayak, paddle, etc.
* Assorted outdoor gear
* Silkscreen equipment
* Well-made furniture
* Your killer house in some killer locale for a week. You can stay if you're cool and not allergic to my dog.
* Custom superhero outfit tailoring
* Fish tacos with Bobby Dylan. A girl can dream.
Make me an offer. I never knew I needed that must have item until I saw it at your garage sale.
KEEP YOUR DAY JOB, UNTIL YOUR NIGHT JOB PAYS
(How to win a canoeing date with Robert Hunter)
Aside from the work that you see here, I have some other skills if you're serious about trading.
* Illustration & graphic design (NOT web design, see above)- I especially like working with musicians
* Murals- including stage, set, and music backdrops
* Custom collage/construction/objet d'art memento deals for that special someone
* Private and group drawing & painting instruction and.....
* Art parties, wherein you provide the guests, and I provide the art materials & activity party
* Professional organizing (of the no clutter and clean space variety)
