Papercuts & Digital Prints > Illustrated Book of the Dead

I saw my first Grateful Dead show in 1989 - which technically makes me a newbie. I've begun making papercuts and digital prints that explore my relationship to the music and lyrics. I recently saw R. Crumb's illustrated Book of Genesis, in which he painstakingly illustrates verse after verse in his signature style. You can check some of it out here: Book of Genesis

In that vein, I would love to eventually illustrate every Grateful Dead song, music that is such an integral aspect to who I am and the way I approach the creative process. Each stencil is hand cut from one sheet of paper. The papercuts are then photographed or scanned, and then I make subsequent digital prints using a variety of techniques. The initial handmade object seems to be an intrinsic part of this process.
